SoLA Youth Showdown 2023
Showdown Teams
Showdown Teams have 3 divisions: Elementary, Middle and High School. Teams can be comprised of 1, 2 or 3 teammates. Our 2023 SYS competition welcomed 53 youth competitors from 8 schools and community organizations. The inaugural event was enjoyed by over 300 guests.
Competition Arena
The SYS competition arena has multiple 4ft x 8ft competition platforms with themed robotics challenges. Teams must complete as many challenges as possible within 3 minutes. Points accumulate as teams compete during multiple rounds.
The Tech Zone
The interactive tech zone was comprised of various hands on stem experiences. Families and students engaged in robotics games and programming, robot aeronautics, oculus goggles, take home robotic arm and LED projects, all accompanied by music by our DJ.
The Set Up
SoLA Robotics was honored to have over 50 volunteers make the SoLA Youth Showdown possible. Over the course of 2 days, volunteers and staff worked day and night to set up, prepare and learn about all the components necessary for a successful event. We are very grateful.
Staff and Volunteers
Our combined staff teams included 22 members from the Crenshaw Family YMCA and SoLA Robotics. The student media team from YMCA's Teen Group also conducted interviews and broadcasts throughout the event. With our 50+ volunteers, it was a successful outcome.

SoLA Youth Showdown is a thrilling competition that challenges youth aged 9-18 from Los Angeles and surrounding areas to showcase their robotics skills. This exciting event provides participants with an engaging and educational experience. SYS is the ultimate showcase of the skills acquired through the rigorous training facilitated by SoLA Robotics, which ultimately determines the SYS champion.
